Who We Are
Wheelhouse Design Company is a design-led remodeling firm based in Auburn, Alabama. We handle everything from the first design conversation through the final walkthrough -- kitchens, bathrooms, whole-home renovations, custom cabinetry, and closets.
What makes us different is the model. Most remodeling companies are either a design firm that subcontracts construction, or a construction crew that bolts on design. We do both under one roof. Our design team works with you from the first meeting through the final walkthrough. John runs the cabinet shop and the install crew. That means your designer actually knows what can be built, and your builder actually knows what was designed.
We're not a franchise. We don't sell products from a catalog. Every project is designed for the specific home, the specific family, and the specific space. We live in Auburn, our shop is in Auburn, and our crew is local.
The Team
Deanna Blackwell
Deanna is the homeowner's advocate on every project. She leads design, selects materials, coordinates trades, and manages the project from concept through completion. She's the person making sure what gets built is what you actually wanted.
John Blackwell
John runs the cabinet shop and oversees installation. Custom cabinets, closets, and built-ins are designed and fabricated in-house. He also manages operations and makes sure the business side runs as smoothly as the projects.
Matt Ralph
Matt works in the shop building cabinets and custom pieces. Reliable, detail-oriented, and experienced in finish carpentry.
Michael Rieder
Michael handles production and installation. He brings precision and craftsmanship to every build and install.
Lauren Bonds
Lauren handles marketing, social media, and administrative support. She keeps the business organized and helps get the word out about our work.
